Pete Eckert

More than two decades after entirely losing his sight to retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative eye disease, Eckert has established a successful career as a self-taught photographer. "I view my work, and the blind photography movement, as an extension of the impressionist movement from a hundred years ago," he said. "A lot of the impressionists had vision problems, they showed a different way to interpret things. The blind photography movement is the next logical step."

Victorine Floyd Fludd

Victorine lost all of her vision around 35 years ago, when, in a short span of time, she went from fully sighted to complete blindness. Vicky has a tremendous sense of space and motion. Often she will dance around the room while we work, never bumping into a thing even amid all the chaos. She is able to incorporate the rhythmic waves of motion of Caribbean song and dance into her photographs, making the lights dance as she does.

JC Sheitan Tenet

JC Sheitan Tenet, there wasn’t another option. He lost his right arm below the elbow 22 years ago. Sheitan Tenet didn’t allow the setback to stop him from pursuing a life as an artist. He taught himself how to draw with his left hand and progressed from there to tattooing. It wasn’t easy. Sheitan Tenet admits that he had a hard time finding an artist willing to take him on as an apprentice because of his disability. But where there’s a will, there’s a way, and now he has a new way to tattoo.

Ceri+self+portrait.jpg

Ceridwen's images have appeared in publications throughout the world. At last count the images from her Rare Project series appeared in over 21 different countries from the BBC and ITV to Huffington Post. She is passionate about capturing that moment in time that draws the observer in to want to know more.  If it ignites interest or simply makes someone pause then she is happy. My passion for photography began through curiosity and has resulted in a growing awareness of the world around me.  I hope that my images portray some of that interest and passion" said Ceridwen.
